Daily Gaming Briefing: September 7, 2026

Today's updates cover Xbox cloud gaming policy shifts, Capcom's successful franchise revival, Saber Interactive's stance on AI, and new Nintendo rumors.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Policy

Xbox has introduced a 15-hour monthly cap for cloud gaming on Game Pass Ultimate. The company clarified that existing members in certain countries will be exempt from this new limitation.

This policy change marks a significant shift for the service, though the exemption provides some relief for long-term subscribers in specific regions.

Capcom's Franchise Success

Capcom continues to focus on reviving dormant intellectual properties following the massive launch of 'Onimusha: Way of the Sword.' The title surpassed 1 million sales on its first day.

The success of this release has pushed the total lifetime sales of the Onimusha series to 10 million units, signaling a strong future for the publisher's legacy catalog.

Nintendo Rumors and Saber Interactive AI Stance

Unconfirmed reports from a prominent leaker suggest that new entries in the Super Smash Bros. and Nintendogs franchises are currently in development. The Smash Bros. title is reportedly an all-new game rather than an updated version of Ultimate.

Separately, Saber Interactive CCO Tim Willits has confirmed that there is 'absolutely no' generative AI used in its licensed titles, including Space Marine 3, Hellraiser, and Jurassic Park Survival. The studio is only testing AI in its experimental title, Rideshare Stimulator.
