About:

Velen 2.0 is a standalone modification for the game Gothic II. In this modification, the player takes on the role of William the pirate. Features: - about 15 - 25h of gameplay - brand new story from the perspective of a new protagonist - completely new, large game world, created with great attention to detail in the Gothic style - complete professional german voice over - many interesting, varied, often funny characters, dialogs and main & side quests, mostly written in the well known Gothic style - many reworked from the original game and even some completely new daily routines for the characters, meaningfully assigned to them to make their lives more realistic and varied - many new and partially modified from the original game features and gameplay elements, such as a Gothic 3-like free aim with ranged weapons & magic, different ammunition with different effects for ranged weapons, auto-save, changing the position of status bars, colored focus names, showing day & time, revised pickpocketing and lock picking, and many, many more, most of which can be customized to one's needs or completely disabled if desired - balancing adapted for the modification with four different selectable difficulty levels - many new talents such as shield fighting, cooking, fishing and mining various ores - new weapons, armor, helmets, shields, items and monsters, some of them exclusively created for this modification

Story:

In this modification, the player takes on the role of William the pirate. The rumor of an apparently heavily drunk old sailor, who one evening in a tavern bragged about his stories and alleged experiences, sent him on a long journey together with his captain Morgan: They sailed to a small island, far from the known Myrtan islands and coasts, ruled by an extremely wealthy prince should be, whose treasury overflows with gold and jewels. The crossing took several days, but it really existed - the island of Velen! Once there, and after they had the information they needed, they made a plan. It should be too simple... So simple that they were caught trying to break into the treasury and were immediately thrown into the dungeon. The verdict was decided on the same day: the execution of the two. Already the next morning it should happen. Already in the early morning hours of the day of the execution, the prince had William brought to him. Unlike expected, he made him an offer. An offer he could not refuse if he wanted to save his life and that of his captain. He might not suspect anything about it yet, but if he would accept it, he would soon be the one who would decide the fate of all Velen...
