About:
Kentucky Route Zero is a magical realist adventure game about a secret highway in the caves beneath Kentucky, and the mysterious folks who travel it. Gameplay is inspired by point-and-click adventure games (like the classic Monkey Island or King's Quest series, or more recently Telltale's Walking Dead series), but focused on characterization, atmosphere and storytelling rather than clever puzzles or challenges of skill. The game is developed by Cardboard Computer (Jake Elliott, Tamas Kemenczy, and Ben Babbitt), and features an original electronic score by Ben Babbitt along with a suite of old hymns & bluegrass standards recorded by The Bedquilt Ramblers.
Story:
Conway is a weary truck driver working as a delivery man for an antique shop, tasked with carrying out one final, important delivery to a mysterious address known only as 5 Dogwood Drive. Accompanied by his faithful dog, he sets out along the rural highways surrounding Interstate 65 in Kentucky, searching for the elusive location. But the address proves impossible to find by ordinary means. Lost and low on options, Conway pulls off at a dim gas station called Equus Oils, where the elderly owner tells him a strange truth: the only way to reach Dogwood Drive is to travel a secret, hidden highway called Route Zero. So begins a haunting, dreamlike journey into the surreal underside of the American South, as Conway ventures onto the mysterious road in search of his destination.
