In 4 Penny Coffins, up to 8 players hunt a hidden murderer through lies, shifting alibis, and hard evidence in our online multiplayer mode. This social investigation game also includes a solo mode for those brave enough to face the fog alone.
In fair Whitechapel where we lay our scene, the year of our lord 1888, the streets run rampant with debauchery. Poverty, crime, and substance abuse are widespread. If you’re uneducated and lucky enough to have a job, you can spend your day choking on smoke at the local power stations in Whitechapel’s industrial district, doing grueling work until the wee hours of the night, at which point you can drink away your meager paycheck at the many alehouses by the docks of the mighty Thames. The streets are choked with smoke from the factories, the alleys teem with poverty and crime, and every sunrise brings news of another body found in the fog. Police struggle to maintain order, doctors chase scientific progress with questionable ethics, and news hawks race to print tomorrow's headlines before the blood has even dried. But Whitechapel's greatest terror is not a man. A malevolent demon stalks the city, sent straight from the foulest pits of the underworld to control a mortal host with the goal of fully manifesting itself. The Ripper feeds on violence, suffering, and human souls, so if its host can commit enough murders, the Ripper will be powerful enough to permanently take control of the host’s body, giving them free reign to terrorize and feed on the citizens of Whitechapel with no recourse to stop them. As fear grips the district, Scotland Yard once again turns to its investigators to restore order. Armed with little more than their wits and the evidence left behind at each grisly crime scene, they must uncover the truth before another victim falls. In Whitechapel, every footprint tells a story. Every witness has something to say. Every fingerprint may point to a killer... or to someone who has been carefully framed. Because when evil walks among you, the truth is rarely as simple as it first appears.
